Icelandic Singletrack Adventure - New for 2016!

Ride Iceland's Best Singletracks

This is the trip for the experienced MTB rider. Experience the thrill of riding through ever changing rough and magical landscapes.  6-12 participants on a guided journey.

Let our guides take you to their favourite singletracks.  You experience the raw nature of the highlands during the day and enjoy great food and great company in the evening, overnighting in huts in the highlands. Included is one heli-biking day over geothermal areas landing on a dormant volcano for a single track descent. This is a trip for experienced riders.

Day 1 - Arrival at Keflavik Airport

We will be meeting you at the airport for your shuttle to our first hotel in Reykjavik to rest up and assemble bikes. Tonight we will be getting to know each other and discussing the week’s activities. No riding today. Dinner is included.

Day 2 – Volcano Helibiking Day

We’ll meet for a brief at a local café where we can answer any of your questions. Then let’s jump in the helicopter, and start the adventure! Our flight path starts with a flyover of Reykjavik to give us an aerial overview of the city before we enjoy the flight through one of Iceland’s most powerful and impressive geothermal regions. We’ll pass the foot of the Hengill Volcano with its hundreds of bubbling mud pools and steaming sulphur vents before we jump out on the top of Hengill Volcano. The ride starts with a technical decent. Everchanging trail with magnificent views. All meals included.

Day 3 – Jeep Safari and into the highlands of Iceland

Enjoy a superjeep safari up to the Highlands next to Icelands most active volcano Hekla passing some of Icelands most exotic landscape. We stop on our way up there to ride some back country single tracks through the desert looking volcanic area. At colorful Landmannalaugar we start our first highland riding with one of our favourite trails in the area,  a ride through the crazy colors and a chance to dip into a natural hot spring pool.  In the evening we drive back to our huts for a good dinner, campfire and an option of an evening ride. All meals included.

Day 4 – Colourful Canyons and Distant Glaciers

Get ready for more breathtaking views. Colorful rhyolite mountains, pitch-black mountains black sand and bright glaciers. The steep trail leads down to a green oasis on the banks of rivers on level land. Through amazing landscapes up and down canyons. It’s like going back in time a few million years. Action packed all mountain route on hard-packed single tracks cut by colorful canyons, demanding hills ending on a fantastic scenic spot where you can enjoy the landscapes of distant glaciers and blue lakes. All meals included.

Day 5 – Desert to Green Oasis

The superjeep brings you to Þórmörk area for a different type of riding. The landscape and vegetation forever changing. Birch trees are a welcome change after a desert ride. A rather easy ride, we do some short hike’n’bike and cross a few unbridged rivers. Semi flat but flowing nice trails ending at our huts in Þórsmörk with a view of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull. We enjoy dinner, drinks at the campfire and have an option of sauna and massage to relax for the last big day.

Day 6 – Hello Eyjafjallajökull!

Today: The hottest single track on earth: Eyjafjallajökull, don’t stop or your tires will melt! Here the land is on fire. Eyjafjallajökull is Icelandic for “island-mountain-glacier.” This ride is literally hot as the new active volcano heats up the earth. We start with a challenging two hour climb to fresh lava from the 2010 eruption. Our descent starts at a glacier and takes us all the way down to sea level on flowing single track along a river that has amazing waterfalls and huge canyons, true rough & flowy Icelandic single track. We end at one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, Skógafoss. Back to the city where we can check out Reykjavik nightlife for a last night celebration. SKÁL!
